Headset Installation Guide

HP- 3 Multimedia Headset
HSVECHP3
This headset requires a 3.5mm "sound out" and a 3.5mm "microphone in" port from a computer soundcard or other audio device.
Setup
Setting up the HSVECHP-3 for Express Dictate is easy. Just follow the instructions below.
  1. Turn on your Computer
  2. Connect the 3.5mm microphone jack to the "microphone" port on your computers sound card. The microphone jack has a small symbol.
  3. Connect the .5mm headset jack to the "sound out" port on your computers sound card. The headset jack has a small symbol.
  4. Open Express Dictate and go to Settings.
  5. Under Devices in Sound Record Device choose either "Default Sound In" or if you see your sound card listed choose this.
  6. Under Devices in Audio Input Channel choose Microphone.
  7. Click OK to close and save.
  8. Create a new dictation file and record a test sample of audio. If the DB Display does not move this is an indication that no audio is being recorded. Check that you have plugged the correct jack into the correct port and try again.
  9. Rewind the file to the beginning and check whether the audio was successfully recorded, this will also test your headphones.
  10. If there is no audio coming through the headphones but the DB Display is moving check that the headphones jack is plugged into the "Sound out" port (sometimes symbolized by a speaker symbol).
  11. Once you can record and hear audio through the mic/earphones you are ready to go!

This headset requires a 3.5mm "sound out" port from a computer soundcard or other audio device.
Setup
Setting up the HSVECSPPC for Express Scribe is easy. Just follow the instructions below.
  1. Turn on your Computer
  2. Connect the 3.5mm jack to the "sound out" port on your computers sound card.
  3. Open Express Scribe and play an example sound file to see if the headset is receiving sound through the sound card (if it isn't you may have it plugged in to the wrong port)
  4. Once you can hear audio through the earphones you are ready to go!

Spectra USB Headset
HSVECSPUSB
This headset requires a USB port and one of the following operating systems: Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP or Mac OS X.
Setup
Setting up the HSVECSPUSB for Express Scribe is easy. Just follow the instructions below.
  1. Turn on your Computer
  2. Connect the headset's USB plug into the computers' USB port. The LED indicator will light up indicating correct connection to the computer.
  3. Drivers for USB communication devices are already included in most PC operating systems and Apple Macintosh operating systems. All devices drivers for the above mentioned operating systems are plug and play, meaning the computer will automatically detect the new device once the USB plug is properly connected into the USB port.
  4. Open Express Scribe and play an example sound file to see if the headset is receiving sound.
  5. Once you can hear audio through the earphones you are ready to go!
