I have updated to Microsoft Vista and Express Scribe will not play my files.

There is a codec issue with Express Scribe and Vista, namely the DSP Group TrueSpeech codec.   This codec was included in Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000, and XP, but has not been included in Vista. Microsoft is not licensed to use DSP TrueSpeech on Vista.
