The automatic speech-to-text "Speech Recognition Engine" feature does not work.

For the speech-to-text you need a SAPI speech-to-text engine to be installed on your computer.   We use Dragon Naturally Speaking but any other engine which claims SAPI compliance should work.

Speech Recognition is slow and takes some time.   Test it with a short file first.   We recommend you use a work-ahead system (ie. proof one file while waiting for speech-to-text of another).

With Dragon Naturally Speaking you must exit the Dragon Dictate client program before Express Scribe will work.  To do this, right click on the Dragon icon on the tray of the task bar and select Exit.
