The Internal PCI voice/fax modem is giving the message 'The modem is not present or is not turned on. Pls.check and try again'

The PCI card is installed into Windows and should be using a logical COM port. To check which COM port is installed on:
  1. Open the Control Panel
  2. Select 'Modems'.
  3. Check the properties of your modem and locate the COM port it is installed on.
  4. Double check that Express Dial is configured for the same COM port (by default it uses COM1). Run Express Dial and select File -> Settings. Select the appropriate Modem Com Port from the dropdown list, or if it isn't listed, overtype the existing Modem Com Port entry with the port that is being used by the modem – for example: COM3.
