Encoder Options for APE Files

APE (.ape) is the extension of files encoded with the Monkey's Audio Codec. This is a lossless codec, which means no data is lost during the compression process - making this a viable format for audio archiving.

Compression Level

This setting defines what level of compression to apply to your selected files. The options range from Fast through to Insane. Each option is a trade off between speed and final file size. The Fast option gives fast compression with larger files while the Insane option will produce smaller files, but will take longer to do so. In terms of quality it does not matter which option you select - all options are lossless and no data is discarded during compression.
