The red error message "SoundTap Recorder failed to initialize" is shown in the Status display

XP solution:

Ensure that you are able to install the SoundTap driver:

1. Click Start
2. Right click on My Computer
3. Select Properties
4. Click the Hardware tab
5. click the Driver Signing button
6. Make sure the action is set to Warn - prompt me each time to choose an action
7. Re-install SoundTap and click Continue Anyway to the hardware installation warning

Vista Solution:

1. Re-install SoundTap

If the error message is still displayed after reinstalling SoundTap, do the following:

1. Restart the computer
2. At the commencement of startup, repeatedly press the F8 key
3. Select Disable Driver Signature Enforcement
4. Windows will now proceed to boot up
5. Re-install SoundTap

Please Note: As a Vista security measure, driver signature enforcement is enabled by default each time your computer starts.
