Yes, Express Burn is really free.

We make Express Burn free in the hope you will like it so much you will decide to upgrade to Express Burn Plus. The plus version includes more advanced features like the ability to burn data DVDs, data Blu-ray discs and data HD-DVD. You can also create and record ISO images and, for audio CD, Express Burn Pluc supports many more file formats (the basic version only supports wav and mp3). After buying a license for Express Burn Plus you will be sent an email containing the 11-digit license serial number. You enter this serial number on the Activate Software page on our website to be allocated a registration and activation code for the software license. This code is comprised of a Name, a Location, an ID number, and a Key. When you receive this code, select the "Register Software" option from the Express Burn "File" menu and enter the code details into the registration window.
