When playing disk and clicking record it reports "Waiting for audio stream" and does NOT record at all

The most likely cause of this problem is that the recording was set to start recording only when audio starts, and had the noise floor set too high. To fix this problem go to the Record dialog, then click on the gears icon in the top right and uncheck 'Start recording only when audio starts' or click on the 'Current Noise Floor' link to change it to a lower value.
