All of the telephone software applications listed below are either completely free or can be downloaded as free trial versions. If you are in doubt about whether the telephone programs will do what you want them to do, we recommend you just download and try it. That way, you will be able to test all the features of the software and view the full manual included in the download.

IVM is a telephone voice mail, call attendant, and interactive voice response (IVR) program for Windows or Linux PCs. It connects to the phone using a professional telephony board, voice modem, or directly to a VoIP service.
For example, IVM can play a menu to callers, redirect incoming calls during office hours or act as an answer machine and take messages for a number of voice mail boxes after hours. All calls (including those answered by you) are logged with date, time and caller ID. The recorded messages can be played at any time, forwarded to an email address, accessed via the internet or, if necessary, saved for future reference.

VRS is a professional voice recording application used for telephone line recording, radio station logging, control room recording and much more for Windows or Linux PCs.
This multichannel audio recording software can record 1 to 64 audio channels simultaneously with automated start and stop if required. VRS features digital signal processing to improve voice intelligibility and automatic level control. The recordings are automatically compressed for archiving. Later they can be searched by date, time, line or other data using the software directly or even using just your web browser (if you enable web access).

This phone dictation system lets you, and other users, dial into a computer running DialDictate to record dictation. Record, replay, edit and manage files by pressing numbers on your telephone keypad. When you have completed a recording, DialDictate will then immediately send the dictation to your typist for transcription by email, the local computer network or via the Internet.

Quorum is software which runs as a phone conference server on any Windows PC. Callers dial into the server to join telephone conferences. Express Dial is a phone dialer for Windows computers and is designed to automate the dialing of a list of numbers (as a predictive dialer) or to call single numbers when required. Express Dial will use VoIP or any voice modem connected to the PC's serial port (so long as the modem has a headset connector or a mic and spk socket - most external modems do). In most cases no setup is required.
